Meet the Founders
David Monheit, CPA PFS
David’s Mission: “ . . . to care comprehensively for your financial well-being . . .”
David Monheit is a native Arizona resident who loves the Valley of the Sun. After graduating the University of Arizona with a BS in Accounting, he followed his father's footsteps and in 1991 began his career in accounting. Within two years of graduation, David passed the CPA exam, which allowed his career to flourish with opportunity. He continued his studies in personal taxation, trust taxation, and financial planning. To add the expertise of financial planning, he also took steps to achieve the designation of PFS (Personal Financial Specialist). David's educational background and years of practice allow him to integrate his expertise at all levels of financial decisions so that clients can count on him for personal CFO level advice.
Before college, in fact, as early as grade school, David had a personal interest in the stock market. He performed the research and invested in stocks and funds with the money he earned from mowing the yard. During his high school years and college summers, David worked in various positions such as retail, a legal clerk for various downtown Phoenix law firms and even as a lifeguard.
Post college, David spent time at Price Waterhouse and some regional firms here in Phoenix. After four years in practice with his own client base, David realized that many of his clients were not properly serviced by their financial advisors. He took steps to integrate financial planning and portfolio management into his practice. In 2004, David started his wealth management firm, Diversified Asset Money Management, LLC, which is a play on his initials. To better brand the firm with the personal responsibility inherent in providing financial advice, David added his last name to the firm name, which is now Monheit Frisch Wealth Management LLC.
With the CPA PFS designation, David has always been ahead of most of his peers due to his innate sense to provide advice centered on the client’s best interest. David's fiduciary standard is also backed by the AICPA requirements to follow a documented fiduciary level process. The addition of the Department of Labor's fiduciary standard was a natural progression. All members of Monheit Frisch Wealth Management LLC follow the fiduciary standard, regardless of financial solutions recommended.
David knows that there is no single approach for all clients. He takes the time to get to know you, your goals, and your investment risk tolerance. After examining the whole picture, he can design a comprehensive solution that considers all the risks and rewards inherent in one's financial plan.
When not at the office, David is a dedicated family man who enjoys travel, fitness, mountain biking and keeping up with his three children.
Howard Monheit, CPA
The original Monheit family CPA . . .
Howard Monheit founded what is now Monheit Zongolowicz Frisch CPAs PLC in 1971. Howard, a transplant from Yonkers, New York, graduated from New York University's School of Commerce, Accounts, and Finance now known as Stern School of Business. He received a commission as a Naval Officer and served 3 ½ years aboard two ships. Upon separating from the Navy, he picked up his new bride in New York and moved to Arizona.
Upon receiving his CPA Certificate, Howard opened his first office in a rented suite in Sun City, Arizona. Shortly thereafter he built an office in Sun City on Coggins Drive. Once David joined the practice, a second office was built in Sun City West. Howard has always placed importance on a “brick and mortar” presence in the communities in which he practiced. This shows a stable presence which has proven to be true. The tradition continues with the firm’s newest location in Surprise and a ten-year tenure at our location in Scottsdale near Kierland Commons.
Howard was President of Sun Health Foundation on two occasions and is a member of a number of professional organizations. Howard enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.
Within this multi-generational firm, Howard's tenured expertise in individual and trust taxation continues to be an asset to David, Gary, and Mike.
Mike Zongolowicz, CPA
The Trust Specialist
Mike joined Howard in the CPA practice in 1985. Mike specializes in individual and trusts taxation as well as probate, and trust administration. Before joining Howard, Mike spent eleven years in Trust Departments in Wisconsin and Arizona dealing with fiduciary taxation and trust and probate administration. The last two years were in Sun City with Valley National Bank. He adds tremendous value to the team with his vast experience with trusts and estates.
Mike is a graduate of Marquette University with a B.S. in Accounting. He was a member of "Beta Alpha Psi", the national honorary accounting fraternity. Mike is the past president and director of the Sun City Rotary Club. He is currently Treasurer for Rotary International District 5495, which encompasses 72 clubs throughout Arizona, California, and Nevada.
